It looks like a polypore, but it’s not. It’s a hydnoid fungus, so it has teeth not pores. You can see them if you zoom into the underside.

They’re classified as inedible because they’re so bitter. The liquid didn’t have a taste but some say it’s peppery. 🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s its veil still attached with gills underneath. The white spots on the cap are the biggest giveaway that this is an Amanita sp.

Definitely not S. Strobilaceus, confident it’s a species of Amanita. I suspect it’s a Western yellow-veiled Amanita (Amanita augusta).
