Just sharing a couple of pics and a message my dad sent to me today.

Darren, you must have some Genes from your grandfather. Here is grandpa at the back with a scarf on with a bushwalking group on Mount Baw Baw in the 1930s. Peaked hat in the second one. 🥰🥰

Getting read to head to the Cordillera Huayhuash soon. A stunning mountain range in Peru. Will be so nice to get away from work for a while.

Here’s the fifth grade. I could only add four at a time.

Starting and ending at the Wedge River Picnic Area, this 3.5km return journey is a challenging Grade 4 trail, taking roughly 3 hours to navigate through rugged, quartzite landscapes.

It’s a very cool walk.

Someone told me:
“My first solo camp was an act of defiance. They said it was too dangerous.”

Funny how different the warnings sound when you’re a woman.

That stuck with me.
So I wrote about it:

Sometimes they say the views make up for how challenging a hike is. While that may be true, I’m never doing this one again. It was brutal.

This pic always makes me smile. Feeling excited about climbing the lower reaches of the Matterhorn to Hörnlihütte back in 2024.
