Reject the commodification & devaluation of human existence to advocate for life's sanctity #ProLife
Still incongruent.

Anyway, thank you kindly for the polite dialogue.

I studied Buddhism about 20 years ago after getting into the works of Barry Long and read the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

My memory is that there is no God in Buddhism, i.e., nothing objective outside of man as a source for morality.

Am I correct?

Understood. Thank you for the polite dialogue.

In regards to person, it's a person.

70% of pregnancies result in the birth of a child.

100% of abortions result in the birth of a dead child.

Banning abortion increases the percentage of children who are not killed by abortion.

A foetus is a child, and that child is killed by abortion.

An abortion would be deemed a failure of the child survived the procedure.

You are predicating your rebuttal on emotions and health, which is an accidental form but not a substantial form.

The substantial form of the foetus and pregnant child is that of human being.

"You can never undo a rape".

That was my point, thank you.
December 31, 2024 at 7:11 PM
Sorry, yes you made a valid point.

I would rebut that the value of the foetus and pregnant child are equal, e.g., sanctity of life ethic.

You may be referring to the quality of life ethic.

I'm inclined to agree, e.g., morals were required for early communities to survive.

I'm also inclined to suggest those morals were subjective rather than objective until God gave provided a model for objective morality.

You're confusing the part with the sum of the parts, e.g., a hand is also human material but not a human being.

It's a human being from the moment two haploids fuse to form a diploid organism, i.e., conception (Source: Carnegie stage 1a development).
