We’d all love for climate science to be apolitical. But it’s not—and can’t be.

This book explains why. Eye-opening and highly recommended!

Earth's avg temp topped 1.5°C over the last 12 months.

Does that mean we've passed the Paris goal?

NO. The global avg must be above 1.5°C for over a decade for that to happen.

So what DOES it mean?
1) we're that much closer, and 2) this (extreme) year will be merely an average year at 1.5C.
We've had 12 months of record-breaking global heat. How close are we to passing the 1.5 C limit? | CBC News
The past 12 months have all surpassed 1.5 C above pre-industrial average temperatures, according to a new warning from the Copernicus climate research program. That isn't the same as breaching the 1.5 C limit set out in the 2015 Paris Agreement, but it's a major alarm that we're close.

Since the 1950s, scientists have known about something called "global dimming" -- caused by tiny particles from air pollution (aerosols) that cool the planet by reflecting some of the Sun's energy back to space. They've been offsetting some of the warming from heat-trapping gases for decades. 🧵

Do you live in the US? Would you like to know what people in your state, county, or congressional district REALLY think about climate science, impacts, solutions and conversations? The answers might surprise you!

My favourite tool just got an update. Check it out:
Climate Opinion Factsheets - Yale Program on Climate Change Communication
Factsheets on climate opinions, risk perceptions, and policy preferences for all 50 states, 435 congressional districts, and 3,142 counties across the U.S.
