They wanted us to leave, we stayed. We kept the name UMC, they are, I don't know, the mean Methodists? It was a global move as the UMC is worldwide. Yeah, Christians fighting over this stuff is baffling, to say the least.

Those churches weren't forced out, they left because they disagreed with the denomination on gay marriage. We are a national church, and this church is representative of our denomination. I live in Indiana (read backwater) and my local UMC church is no different than this one.

It's lovely and important you ask this. I would assume she has zero protection. My husband, a pastor, receives hate mail and phone calls at church and our home. It's all anonymous, of course. I think the police care but city leadership doesn't because they don't like him either.

Disaffiliated? From what? It's a historical name, not an actual group. I am a United Methodist, married to a Presbyterian pastor. Both mainline denominations
