I photographed a naturalization ceremony at Yosemite’s Glacier Point amphitheater on Wednesday, at which nearly 70 people from 16 countries became U.S. citizens. #yosemite

Yosemite NP’s largest campground reopened today following the completion of a 3-year, $26 million rehabilitation project funded through the GAOA. Tuolumne Meadows campground has been closed since renovations began in 2022. It is one of the largest campgrounds in the National Park System. #yosemite

Shortly before 3:00 pm, multiple @CalFire air attack planes flew overhead and from the back deck, I spotted smoke over the next ridge. I threw on my PPE and drove approx 2 miles to the #LoomisFire. Firefighters were already mopping up in grass and heavy timber. The fire is now 100% contained.

I’ve read some unofficial reports that ~1,000 people showed up at Sonora’s Courthouse Park #NoKings protest. Tuolumne County is a rural, conservative county, adjacent to Yosemite Natl Park. @tcindivisible.bsky.social

Went for the fishing, and found this instead… A Sikorsky Skycrane helicopter collects water at Lundy Lake for the #InnFire that continues to burn between Mono City and Lee Vining in California’s #EasternSierra. Hwy 395 is open and Lee Vining businesses remain open as usual.

Pattie Gonia & other transgender rights allies hung a huge trans flag on El Capitan in #yosemite on 5/20/25. According to Pattie Gonia, “Some carry hate. We carry the largest trans pride flag to ever be flown in a natl park & unfurled it on the side of El Cap to prove a point-that trans is natural.”
