I think this might be why I was a bit lost on where I stand. I liked Bernie and I have lots of criticisms of the Democratic Party. But I never aligned with the “Bernie bros” because they seemed really toxic. Clearly that turned out to be the case. I was straight up begging people to vote Harris.

This is exactly right though. I’m super critical of our reps, during primaries and while they’re in office. But I’m not going to sabotage the obviously better candidate just because they weren’t my first choice or something. This nuance is so important.

I’m curious because I genuinely hadn’t thought about whether I would consider myself a leftist or a liberal, or some secret third thing, and was surprised at myself that I hadn’t. I realized reading your posts that I wasn’t even clear on the differences between the two. I’m doing some reading now.

I am very much not here to try and convince you otherwise. I probably should have stayed out of it entirely, I just wanted to understand how you were being hurt so that I wouldn’t inadvertently contribute to it.

This is more than fair. You are allowed to be exhausted in this truly exhausting situation. If you want to disengage from any of it, for any amount of time, that should be your prerogative. If that means blocking some people, that should be okay.

I am in a weird position of recognizing everyone involved in this thread, and thinking of you all as good and reasonable people who generally want the same thing. So it concerns me that there seems to be a conflict. I hold Dana in high regard and want to try to understand her perspective.

She was a lovely, silly girl. She was gentle with my much smaller dogs when they met, and even wanted to play with them.

To be real, idk which one I am, if I’m even either. I’m somewhere on the far left, and consistently vote democrat. I’m pretty critical of dem candidates, but only because I believe they are open to criticism and making changes.That alone makes them more electable to me. I want to work together.
