at him sternly.

"You do not even know where we're going, do you?"

"Because I have someone that he wants. Other than myself."

She said simply, not elaborating any further. Her hand lifts, soft pink aether flowed from her palm to the door. After a few seconds, the ground rumbled then shook. The giant doors opened, but before Zenos could sprint through, she looked+

Mm? Oh! Yes, I have always been quite fascinated by folk tales, fables, and fairy tales. I never really got to indulge as a childhood aside from what papa had regaled me with.

Tales of fantastic beasts on floating islands, terrifying creatures that seemed they would not hurt. And profound loss.

other eye... Move, Zenos, I will open the door."

"It will not open through sheer, brute force. As much as you wish it so, you are powerless to open that gate."

Aji closed the distance, looking up at her son with a slight frown. She had caught notice of the container strapped to his waist, and she felt her stomach drop.

"So, he sent you her+

Once her head was clear, she made for the Crystal Tower on foot.

quickly.

"Saronia, huh? Don't know what you think you're playing at, grandfather, but perhaps it is finally time to put you down for good..." she tucked the container into her pocket, and teleported to Mor Dhona.

The surge of Aether from the teleportation spell made her feel worse. It took her a+

as she turned it over once more, she pressed her thumb to the scanner.

The container beeped twice, then opened itself up.

Nothing could have prepared her for what she found inside. It made her want to retch, and she very nearly did. Quickly, she took her thumb off the scanner, forcing it to close+

to where it had come from to begin with. She picked it up, turning it over in her hands. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was a containment unit, one that had not been in use since she was a child, well over 5,000 years ago at this point.

Seeing one active did nothing to curb her curiosity,+

[She tightens the screws quickly, then props up the third piece]
I would rather four arms over four heads, really.
November 10, 2025 at 4:28 AM
[Thankfully, she had the parts laid out where they connected]

If I had more hands, I could have finished this myself. But I doubt that would be wise while he is still growing. I'd rather we didn't have a son with four arms.

[She giggled, crouching down onto her knees to prop one part up.]

Thank you, Nerva.

[She unlocks the door to the nursery, an old unused guest room that had since been cleared out, and repainted a lovely pastel green. On the floor were the parts of the crib, half assembled.]

...I simply meant that I have many deadly things within my lab!

Eyugh. Enough with this talk of death and immortality, until grandfather actually does something, I will continue to work on the nursery. Come give me a hand setting up the crib, will you?
November 10, 2025 at 2:34 AM
I think out of everyone within the Galvus family, only Solus and myself are contenders for longest-lived and "may be functionally immortal".

You won't, Nerva. Or rather, you shouldn't. And if you do end up living longer than necessary...I have things within my lab to fix that.

Ha, as if Allag was any better when I was a child! But you are right, and that is why there is a concerted effort to change how the empire is run. Both from within and without.

I am hoping our son will be the leader the empire needs when the time comes. Given that we three will not live forever.
November 9, 2025 at 11:32 PM
/Ugh/ no. Not even when I was a child! I never knew peace until I came here. And even that was short lived.
November 9, 2025 at 7:51 PM
It's alright, Vergilia. Until something /actually/ happens, I cannot act, let alone form a plan.
November 9, 2025 at 7:50 PM
[She tries to take a steadying breath]

This really is the worst possible time for him to be making attempts at getting my attention.
November 9, 2025 at 7:05 AM
Then... I suppose I will continue to put the nursery together until I have confirmation about what I suspect.
November 9, 2025 at 5:12 AM
No, lose is not the right word. I believe someone is in danger, perhaps due to my grandfather's meddling.
November 9, 2025 at 5:08 AM
Yeah, unfortunately, I have. [She laughs, feeling her stress start to slowly crumble]

I suppose until something actually happens, I can't do anything about it... Right, Nerva?
November 9, 2025 at 4:49 AM
It is just like him to do that when I was just about to start working on the nursery. He just can't wait until after my son is born, can he?

Selfish prick... [she mutters]
