1) A full on drama about a boss sniper, who builds her way to the top of her craft despite her not having any depth perception because her eyes are too far apart. Never is there seen a gorge. The gorge refers to the space between her eyes.

2) A thriller/rom-com where two snipers across a gorge who never come in contact with each other until the very end fall in like with each other. Also, sometimes they have to shoot at humans. Never is there seen a plant zombie.

3) A sci-Fi action movie about 2 people in a gorge fighting plant zombies or something. Never is there seen a love story.

If either of those three films would have been made as a standalone film, two of them would have been ok, and one might have even been intriguing.
In order from worst to best, here’s what The Gorge would have been better as:

This is a movie that didn’t know what it was, and actually ended up being three half-baked movies thrown into a casserole dish. You could tell which parts would have been good on their own. Somebody clearly thought, incorrectly, that they might be good together. The sum is less than its parts.

It was the only movie I had any emotional stake in. 10/10. Well worthy of the award.
