Wonder if this would be the course of action if the mayor were a Republican. The overarching motivation seems to be sticking it to Adams. But, sure, in the general sense, it is good to see some “resistance.”

Well, let’s see how successful Dems signing onto Republican bills will be. All I meant was Dems should not put their name on any final GOP legislation. The next year is going to be rough. Let them ultimately own it. I was not advocating for total acquiescence and silence.

This is why Dems have to show restraint and discipline and allow Republicans to own everything this time around. No saving them from themselves this time. You will get none of the credit but will be subjected to blame when it goes south. Just be prepared to critique and provide a sane alternative.

I certainly believe esp. pin 2025, Democrats should critique but under no circumstances add their name to a single piece of GOP legislation. Thank God Manchin & Sinema will be gone. However, it will be interesting to see how pols with dicey 2026 situations, e.g., Ossoff in GA, will approach it.
