Agreed, so Bogarde would have been my choice but Unai wanted a left footer and he knows better than me, just it didnt look like the right substitution in hindsight

You would hope so, even if we can get a loan from somewhere until end of season. Although dropping a new person in at the back in a new system- before Wolves away is not ideal. To be fair though our forwards and midfield just dont seem able to keep the ball up the pitch enough and ease pressure

If he had a stretch of starts I’m sure he could become better and learn. But Digne has been arguably the player of the season so how can you drop him? I think you lose more by moving Digne to CB- so Bogarde or Kamara wouldve been my tactical switch

I don’t think Bogarde would’ve been bullied to be honest, I mean West Ham didn’t even have an out and out striker playing until Ings came on. We will never know and its hypothetical I know. But one things for sure and that is Maatsen is no where near Digne’s level, and he was lost for whole 2nd Half

Didnt think Digne was that terrible? To be fair Maatsen should never have been bought on- Bogarde wouldve been my choice, leaving Digne on the left, and likely keeping Wan Bissaka under control, whilst being a better attacking threat than Maatsen

I agree to a point, and to support the points you make I would say the whole summer recruitment (maybe Onana is the exception) was more a sorting of the books due to PSR and making up the numbers in squad depth. Cant evolve if nothing new or better quality is being added
