As always a great pleasure to speak with the members of the RegHub network about better regulation and bringing Europe closer to the citizens. Big thanks to Rainer Steffens from the North Rhine Westphalia Representation in Brussels for hosting us today!

New study on budgetary impacts of enlargement clearly shows the impact of a big bang enlargement, leading to a new "statistical effect" for some Member States and regions similar to the one in 2004 showing that it can be managed if there is the political will.

Todays announcement of the @ec.europa.eu to launch the strategic dialogue on the future automotive industry in Europe is an important step for a just transition which needs all levels of government. The Automotive Regions Alliance stands ready to join.

Interesting paper of the JRC of the @ec.europa.eu about the spatial distribution of Chinese value added content in regional exports to the US - indicating EU’s regional vulnerability to US trade policy shifts towards China!

Very useful report from @jnunezferrer.bsky.social about the EU budget and territorial cohesion reminding us about the basics of the European project: Strengthening the Single Market through more collaboration and by ensuring that no one and no region is left behind!

Interesting study of the @Eprs on the cost of non-cohesion strongly advocating a better understanding of drivers for territorial inequalities and the need for a more integrated approach across all levels of government to address them.

Excellent study by @rodriguez-pose.bsky.social about determining factors for decentralisation, showing the complex relationship between the levels of government. There is clearly a need for effective decentralisation for more local delivery instead of top-down missions.

Interesting read from Sylvia Schwaag Serger, Luc Soete and Johan Stierna about Innovation, Sustainability and a fair Economy in Europe also looking at the - often forgotten - territorial dimension and the danger of mis-aligned top down missions with local needs!

The recent #EPRC paper gives a good overview of the state of play and future challenges of cohesion policy in the EU; very much in line with the views of the European Committee of the Regions: We need more togetherness in the EU in 2025 and beyond!
