We have run out of descriptors for the daily atrocities, grave and trivial, committed by this evil band of Americans. Building a better democracy from the rubble left by this profound travesty will take courage, time, compromise, unity and determination. There is no other option.

Thinking of Robert Redford, perhaps his best work was in All the President's Men, which as a college senior in 1976, I found to be a horrifying story of political and moral corruption. Seems we've learned very little.
