Tourmaline is the most common borosilicate mineral in the Earth's crust. It is stable as low as 100 C and as high as 900 C and up to pressures of 6 GPa. In addition to boron, it contains a very wide range of ions that control the stability and variety of colors that it exhibits (see slices below).
