This is a weird place to visit. I’ve been vacationing here on earth for a few years now and it feels like things are just getting stranger everyday.
Best snorkeling I’ve ever had - Bali, blue lagoon

At almost 50 years old I’ve never had snake fruit - Bali.

Fantastic entries in this years Archibald - a worthy winner too. I sat with a few of the works for 5-10 minutes, really something magical in the visual language and techniques of these four.

Great work from the Lego team moving to paper packaging. Just starting Tudor Corner and loving it. Plastic can be great, my kids played with the same Lego my wife had as a kid. You can keep it forever. We need to value plastic properly. Single use plastic - let’s move on.

Huge Sydney concert for ‘Lawrence’ last night at the metro. Incredible show. Outstanding all the way. Awesome set from Aussie support Jaron Jay too.

I know the world is burning or freezing depending on where you are - tonight I enjoyed a perfect evening with friends on the beach at Coffs Harbour in Australia. Wherever you are I hope you have a tranquil night coming your way soon - oh and Apple, your iPhone continues to deliver. Tech can do good.

The Magritte exhibition at AGNSW is fantastic. Timeless images that act as a lens to 20th century ideas. Are there any contemporary artists working that capture the mood of this time? It just all feel’s transitory - are we just clock watchers, old timers…window shoppers?

It’s getting pretty hard to parse Boxing Day sales and ‘cost of living’ crisis. Seems there isn’t much money for groceries but plenty for some half priced fast fashion and cheap electronics. I thought the economy made no sense but I’ve realised it’s humans that makes no sense.

A great data visualisation #dataviz of the growth and contribution of solar to the world energy mix: www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...
Fossil fuels are being 'eaten alive' by the solar rush
Satellite imagery reveals the staggering rise of solar farms around the world in recent years. Can Australia get on board?

A friend shared this quote…it rang true for me.

“A dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot.”

The modern video game music composer is an unrecognised genius. I recommend Jeremy Soule if you’re looking for some office focus music. If you cringed at ‘video game’ just try it. You don’t have to like Star Wars to appreciate the theme song.

The Liberal nuclear energy plan is bizarre - its an expensive plan to have less energy than we need. I had thought it might be an exciting alternative - it’s depressingly conservative. Energy growth is well modelled.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has consistently outperformed…balancing growth while tackling inflation, despite the terrible economic decisions of our current and past governments. Inflation is the greater attack on workers wages - not interest rates.

Bluesky over Damascus today? Just need ‘the rebels’ of today to become the political leaders of tomorrow.
