Summer is the most lovely time to bike around the area for the bloody battle of #Lund that took place at the 4th of December 1676 and killed about three thousand Swedish and Danish soldiers. You find maps, direction, information and a lot of pictures in our large visitor guide to experience it 🥰

Maybe could "maybe" be a better word in this case instead of "likely" 😊

This map shows the center of Lund today and how it looked like around year 1000. We know that the church marked (3) were built on request by Sweyn Forkebeard. There were a grave chamber, but it was empty when found.

No, no, not in Lund Cathedral as they did not begin to build it until year 1081 🙂

But he was possibly buried in the church (3) on this map that shows what Lund looked like around year 1000. We don't know yet that he was buried there, but we do know that this church was built by Sweyn Forkbeard.

The construction of the cathedral actually started exactly in 1081. The king Canute the Hole said that himself in is letter of donation. But when the messenger from the Pope promoted Asser Svendsen to archbishop in 1104 was it in the church whose ruin you can see in this picture. That is Drotten!

It is an interesting photo. The Danish camp was located behind that line of trees in November 1676, se the map, until it all escalated with the battle of Lund at the 4th of December. Your photo was taken just to the south of (2) in the map.

Six tourists from Italy saw #Lund today, the oldest city in Sweden, together with our greeters. They started inside because of the chilly weather in Lund today 🥶
