CAA stats allow us to look at the 20 busiest international air routes (in terms of passenger numbers) to/from the UK during October. This reveals that all bar 2 of these routes served Heathrow and that it was a 50/50 split between short-haul and long-haul.

Heathrow has reported a record November for passenger volumes, but here's a look at the tally for the past twelve months by route segment (blue bars) versus the record achieved in any rolling 12 month period prior to the pandemic (red bars).

In November 112,478 passenger vehicles were transported through the Channel Tunnel, 3% fewer than for the same month a year ago. However, the tally for the first 11 months of this year remains 2% up on that for the same period of 2024.

Latest IATA stats indicate that in October European carriers saw international passenger demand 7.4% up on a year ago, and with capacity up 6.0% this resulted in load factors improving by 1.2 percentage points to 86.5%.

Latest stats from IATA indicate that in September European airlines international passenger traffic was 4% up on a year ago, but with capacity 4.4% higher than in September 2024 load factors fell 0.3 percentage points to 85.6%,

According to STR London hotels had a strong September with occupancy at 86.5% (up 3.3 percentage points on a year before), with ADR at £209.97 (+5.4%) and RevPAR at £181.69 (+8.9%),

With spending of almost £2.1 billion visitors from Germany made a huge contribution to our visitor economy last year, and this topped the previous most valuable year (once we adjust for inflation) of 1996.
