Whenever I see JWST images like this one, they remind me of the film Die Sehnsucht der Veronika Voss (1982), Dir. Rainer Fassbinder. They used a so-called star filter to create such 8-spiked diffraction patterns, similar to the 6-spiked ones from JWST's hexagonal mirrors. 🔭

Good point. I found this in the manufacturer's webpage. It looks like they finally never used them in a mission, sadly.

My favorite 🔭x🎥 fact.
The Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/0.7 lens, was designed for the Apolo program to photograph the dark side of the moon. Ten units were made: Carl Zeiss kept one, NASA got six, and Stanley Kubrick the remaining three, and used them to film stunning candlelight scenes in Barry Lyndon.
