Can y’all also hire black people to do your sensitivity reads and editing for these characters. I recently read a romance where the FMC was black but you wouldn’t know it the bedroom. Also her “people” were enslaved and her white husband was hesitant to help 🙄😒
if you’re a non-black author who decides to write a black mc, you absolutely need to take responsibility for the gross reception and erasure done to said character from your own reader base and speak tf up. there’s no reason you should let racism and colorism fly within your own fandom.
