6) As has been mentioned, it shows respect for the person you're contacting. Workers in an industry with a lot of societal stigma and abuse shouldn't need to take more disrespect from potential clients.

5) Unless they've stated a fee (which you can choose to pay or not), it's a nominal amount you set that you choose to pay. If you think it's not a nominal amount, you're either spoiling them (and good on you for that), or you can't afford what you're after and wasting everyone's time.

3) A tip in advance is proof that you *can* pay. That you have money, can navigate an appropriate payment method, and are (probably) not a minor.

4) It shows that you're willing to follow situational etiquette, which is very important for any future interaction.

2) Unlike most other jobs, there are people who get off on the interaction without ever intending to engage the SW. A tip in advance shows that you are serious, and willing to flip the risk of having your time (and money) wasted onto yourself.

Not a SW, so open to correction from people with experience, but hopefully these points make sense.

1) When you approach a SW, you are expecting a response, which requires the time of the person you are approaching. That is work, and should be compensated.
