"There are conditions of blindness so voluntary that they become complicity."

-Paul Bourget, novelist (2 Sep 1852-1935)
My wife and I will pay $60K next year for the cheapest PPO plan.

I didn't think that was possible

If you needed more evidence that the system is broken, here it is.
November 10, 2025 at 4:16 AM
Just noticed that if that's for an individual, it passes the sniff test for $4K for a couple.

My wife said she would have never thought she would look forward to turning 65. :)

It is correct. We each have a PPO, we're not destitute, and we are in our sixties. Our annual deductibles are over $5K (don't recall the precise figures) and this is just what it is.

$4K now, $5K next year. We are retired but not old enough for Medicare.

I'm just relieved that the premiums for me and my wife only went up by about 25%. From a little less than $48K per year to a little over $60K per year.

I suppose raising twins had no value. We've done it and my job was a helluva lot easier than my wife's.

If you can't retire at 61 with a 20-million-dollar net worth, then you're doing it wrong.

Well, the Trump administration and PE do have something in common: whatever each touches dies.
October 22, 2025 at 3:35 AM
I think that's possibly a special edition upsell
October 14, 2025 at 1:18 AM
I'm curious as hell: what happened to her?
October 12, 2025 at 4:14 AM
OMG, something very close to this happened to my mom-and-pop employers when I was in my late teens. They were checking out a new office location, left their kid in the car, and it was stolen. Guy ditched the car and called the police from a pay phone.

Dude kept the purse, though.

Even if he was too lazy to read "The Twenty-Six Words That Created the Internet," I suspect a short email to Mr. Kosseff could have prevented this.

The intersection of the set of people who clearly understood this would happen, and the set of people who voted for the orange man, is the null set.

This is just delicious

It's absolutely stunning that these officers could be so dense.
October 4, 2025 at 2:31 AM
What a bunch of ineffectual unts.
September 26, 2025 at 12:29 AM
This is absolutely appalling.

I recommended this to friends and colleagues when it was fresh. Most of them never trusted me again for movie recommendations.

I stand by the recommendation.

I hope Susan Kare isn't seeing this

But she is certainly willing to go after people who commit her malleable definition of "hate speech"

Does anyone at the post use language properly any longer? If you are rejecting vaccines, you are not basing this decision on reason.
