2x dad, tech founder guy, sometimes guitar player, eventually dust.
It's also self-serving. If open source didn't exist, we'd all be reinventing the wheel constantly at our day jobs. Maybe AI changes that a bit, but it also wouldn't exist without so much open source code.

I've purchased this movie twice (kids), "watched it" 4 times (kids), and haven't seen the very end yet. (kids).

(Dad of 3 yo) I sometimes think I'm worrying too much about exposure to such things. There are skills to be developed with games and it's at least better than one-directional things like TV.

Isn't the existence of these new "reasoning" models proof that prompting involves skill and impacts the output? They effectively arrive at improved results through long, detailed conversations with themselves (unless I'm misunderstanding the explanations I've seen on that).

Any plans for Linux support?

Advanced voice mode obviously interacts in a much more conversational way. It's possible they did that with some system level prompting, or maybe it's a different model, but it gives different answers that are more appropriate for that medium.

How bout just "live each day". Most people forget even that part.

The upside of all the controls is you only see what you specify. The downside is you only see what you specify. Some sort of "Popular" tab that surfaces more of the most-liked-wittiness like Twitter (with less bait/noise) would be nice.

I'm still trying to understand how this is different than OpenAI's previous plugin/manifest approach.

Meta always follows what works. Wouldn't expect anything less.

Nice, the ask-files feature should be pretty useful. Does that support passing in multiple files and asking for things that may require joins between them?

A semantic data modeling tool. I've mentioned it in comments on HN but never posted directly. It's lacked some of my attention this year due to an acquisition at my day job but I hope to return to it soon.

Docker perhaps?

I'm running a 2024 XPS 13 with Linux for work and it's good overall. They have an option to order with Ubuntu pre-installed.

You'll maybe get better bang for your buck with Framework or Lenovo. I haven't looked at System76 in a year or so but I recall they had poor screen options.

Google really upping their tit-for-tat game.

I use it for any coding problem i think requires a bit more thought than 4o would provide. I only use o1-preview for non-coding reasoning.

I also was hoping for a starter pack of sorts. I've just been switching back and forth, as I see someone I like on X, check for them here. Hopefully the influx continues.
