competitive videogames do rely on meta for tech, so there’s little i can say on that. what drives me up the wall is this attitude being carried over to coop and PVE games. it existed with WoW raids, and i hate the attitude of those too

it needs to maintain its largely false sense of legitimacy - not just in order to sucker in new marks, but also to maintain its tenuous relationship with laws and regulations

it’s still there, hence “slow”, but a generation raised on imports will hopefully stop thinking they’re weird deviant outsider media in some nonexistent culture war
