Cards are the resource in Yu-Gi-Oh. So Pot of Greed has a similar play pattern to something Black lotus in Magic the gathering. A card that generates resources with no drawbacks. So realistically speaking, every deck would play it if it was legal.

It's in the camp of ok mario rpg. It doesn't really meet the same highs as the best that mario and luigi/ Paper mario has brought, but it is also not really the worst entry of mario rpg.
