writer, sometimes. beast of mud and muck, most other times.
it's also baffling because i swear after bg3 came out the devs were literally like "that development cycle was insane, our next game will not be as huge". why the switch up?

it also can't be ignored how much discussion of Horses is wrapped up in a larger conversation of games censorship surrounding the whole payment processors debacle (still ongoing btw). i don't wanna be disingenuous and assume that this guy would be on the side of Mastercard, but...

i'm mad at epic for backtracking on their earlier acceptance of the game tbc but less surprised by it because epic has a bigger history of hesitancy towards more adult-oriented content. valve is truly inconsistent on this sort of thing to an incredibly frustrating degree.
December 4, 2025 at 3:23 AM
he also keeps acting as if valve was, in fact, clear on the reason for their ban. valve's only stated reasoning was based on an earlier unfinished build of the game, and by their own admission they refused to look at a later build. the specific "offending content" isn't even in the game anymore.

maybe twenty seconds if your internet's slow. i'm bein generous here
December 4, 2025 at 2:32 AM
takes five seconds. ten, max.

you're on the internet, man. you could've done a quick google. a lil search in another tab.

this guy trying to sell himself on his patreon as a voice worth giving money to in the games journalism space is odd considering that, by both his own output and his seeming naivety, he seems wildly unfamiliar with any games that aren't destiny or COD.

what if they were all brothers

read this one in high school and remember loving it then. i get the distinct sense that if i read it again now i would not love it

oh you're an unusual person.
July 2, 2025 at 4:04 PM
accusing rascal of "yellow journalism" over a free article btw
July 1, 2025 at 7:53 PM
it wasn't one sentence, it was an entire page. an explanation of the entire thesis of the game.
July 1, 2025 at 7:52 PM
i have no moral or ethical qualms with rebel scum's content. i can respect that drivethrurpg is being consistent in their ruling, i still think their ruling is stupid and have no issues with how level 9 handled this. if anything this post lessens my view of drivethru more than the rascal article did
July 1, 2025 at 5:15 PM
as for "making bank on notoreity" a) afaik level 9 wasn't doing that at the time the article was written, and b) so?
July 1, 2025 at 5:13 PM
July 1, 2025 at 5:09 PM
the rascal news article literally says it was level 9's decision to pull the game
July 1, 2025 at 5:06 PM
they also claim that rascal news "stopped just short of calling them fascists", which isn't true. if anything, the rascal article calls them centrists.
July 1, 2025 at 4:58 PM
like they just re-state their reasoning for banning the game, which are the same reasons stated in the rascal article, and then post the questions rascal asked them, which all seem fair.
July 1, 2025 at 4:56 PM
?? doesn't this just re-confirm everything in the article? i see no major contradictions between this post and the article

REALIS is a good recent example of a game like this. canon setting that is important and can't be ignored, but literally thousands of moons orbiting a huge weird star/gas giant, which players can make up themselves.
May 25, 2025 at 10:31 PM
BUT i do also very frequently see the extreme of this, where too many games are like "idk, do whatever." i like a middle-ground, where there IS a setting, but said setting gives lots of room for player creation and making the world unique to a given group.
May 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
see, i like it when games do allow the players/GMs to be able to make the game's setting more "their own" because it allows for more player ownership, and IME a lot of players are uninterested in reading a ton of lore before character creation and playing.
