It seems like there are a lot of Americans just learning about the modern history of South Africa. I’d recommend reading Country of my skull by Antjie Krog and Red Dust by Gillian Slovo - both of these helped me understand. I’m not South African, I’m Australian. It’s tough but necessary reading.

This was taken the day the Australian public voted no on the referendum, a lot of our faith in our fellow humans broke, but it became easier to know who you wanted to spend your time with. I thought this might help our neighbours after last week. 🫂
