It does totally depend on the state. In OR/WA we’ve had it long enough for the industry to mature so they’ve probably worked out sustainable pricing models. Possibly better product grown on the west coast, also, idk.

They’d all have to actually legislate if they didn’t have the filibuster! Jamelle Bouie just had a great explainer on this.
What's the deal with the filibuster?

(*a projection they would appear to be falling short of so far and which doesn’t take into account predictable adaptations in trade to and from the US, as well as additional consequences including consumer inflation, a weakened dollar, and other expensive downstream disruptions to the economy)

It’s actually around $200 billion so far for 2025. His $3 trillion figure is an estimate for how much they’ve projected* to take in by 2035. But to be fair, we can’t be sure he hasn’t already illegally blown that projected revenue on a gold-encrusted beach front casino in Gaza.

dumb question: is this remotely legal?

my overall feelings on Rand Paul aside, he’s right that shoehorning shit into these mega-bills is trashy behavior

Getting older is just an exercise in expanding your awareness of how stupid and conniving most people in power really are.

Could my “dividend” be coming in the form of ICE brownshirts assaulting and abducting my neighbors? I’d rather have cash, Scott.

sure, he’s been hitting you for years, but you just need to give in, go home, and hold him fiercely accountable

If the last white dude he talked to had told him the real way to go was to just trash Obamacare and pay medical providers directly and people could just go get free healthcare, he’d have repeated a plan for single payer universal healthcare on national tv.

Are you ready? He hadn’t heard of groceries until 2024.

Come to think of it, I’d be more likely to pay for a full interior clean somewhere pleasant to walk around for 20 mins.

I honestly don’t know why he would care that much. I don’t drive super regularly, but I still go to the car wash. Like, cars will still exist and need washed for a while yet in human history regardless of whether some streets become slightly more transit- and pedestrian-friendly.

It’s not up to everyone else who was in lockstep to “keep the peace” with the people who sold out the coalition’s position. It’s up to everyone else to recognize those people can’t be trusted and to move forward without them.

They don’t need to work. The Christian fascists who wrote Project 2025 already came up with all the plans. Gut consumer protections, rollback reproductive care, privatize Medicaid… Even their own constituents would hate it, but that’s what you get with one party rule.

Fortunately it isn’t up to Hakeem and we can pressure our senators to make it happen. (Also even if he was pushing to replace Chuck behind the scenes, or was just indifferent, this is the line you’d expect to hear until there was consensus among enough senators.)

you mean the the legal world brains prosecuting the government’s case didn’t actually find *one neat trick* to void the meaning of statutes of limitation???
