I’m organizing an education-focused session at #32SLS! I plan to showcase all the great work the community is doing to teach severe weather and use storms to motivate learning. Please submit abstracts (due 3/19/26)! Look for this session in the abstract submission portal. @ams-sls-stac.bsky.social

I got rid of the cross stripes because they were interfering with my vision. I like the result better.

STORM CHASER SQUID GAME: Teams that successfully intercept tornadoes will advance to the next round. Any teams that bust will be eliminated.

Echoing colleagues: Think before you (re)post. #Melissa is about to impact a relatively poor part of Jamaica. I doubt we will know the true extent of the devastation for days or weeks.

Information vacuums fill with disinformation. Expect a lot of “breaking wind” on SM.

Note how the bird roost rings on the east side of Indiana expand slightly earlier than the ones on the west side, as the sunrise terminator progresses across the state from east to west. #radar

“The cover had a woman, young woman with green background of the forest, following chimpanzees. And I thought, wow. She kind of looks like me. That's when I decided I wanted to do that kind of work.” - Dr. Lynne Isbell

I remember “The Enemy Within”. S1E5. A transporter accident splits Kirk into Good Kirk and Evil Kirk. Evil Kirk gets drunk and tries to rape a female yeoman. Good Kirk flounders around and can’t make any substantive decisions.

In short, it’s an apt metaphor for our current federal government.

Some pictures of #AMS41Radar attendees trying out an educational demonstration of radar in virtual reality. The demo was produced by Purdue’s RCAC Envision Center as part of my collaboration with @comet-meted.bsky.social.

I am literally at a conference right now where the advances in PAR hardware, software, and training are being presented. Today’s coffee break conversations are going to be… interesting. #AMS41radar

Pro tip: If you don’t want the obnoxious, often inaccurate “AI Overview” that nobody asked for with every Google search, add the tag -AR to the end of your search.
E.g. “Hurricane Erin -AR”
