I guess this is a romance and I’ve not read too many of those. I’m not sure if I’m liked that part so much as I like the characters. In someway, those are the same and I’m happy to have read it.

Not that I don’t like Blue, but I understand Red far more. Going from unsure overconfidence with her writing, this inability to feel the same thing Blue feels. And yet it’s so sweet watching them grow together.

For being titled with it, the time war is not really a big focus. Red and Blue are on opposite sides of a war without reason and without logic both sides feel different and that’s important. There’s a lot of contest between it to and the love they share is formed by the contrast.

I adore that not everything works out. Sure it’s still very close to a perfect happy ending, but it is stressed repeatedly how awful earth will be even in the best case scenario. And I think he needed it. He wanted to save earth. He needed a friend.

This is now my favorite of his Novels.

Arguably, I have absolutely no idea how the mission would have gone without Rocky’s help, even with the original crew. Rocky is a great character, even if he isn’t the most alien alien. It’s still plenty interesting and I kind of love it. It’s enough flavor of Arrival.

Sure this and Andy‘s other stories are a bit optimistic but I think that this manages to tell a really cool. First contact story. It tells it in a way that is very personal. It makes Grace find companionship in a quiet lonely place.

Be wary of spoilers! And I mean it. This is great because I was not expecting it. I highly recommended that. My recommendation is yes. If you liked the Martian, I highly recommend this. But spoilers from here.

It took me a while to click with the story and it wasn’t my favorite, but maybe that’s just me coming right off of the entire expanse series. It was fun, but I can see why this kind of faded from collective memory.

This city is kind of cool. The economics involved feed into the whole story, but Kenya being the owners was very surprising. I dare say that the name Artemis doesn’t feel like it would be right. Maybe that’s my ignorance, but I feel like local mythology might have been a better fit.

There’s a lot more about economics and about social interactions that I wasn’t expecting to play a role. A lot of it seems very idealized and a happy ending where everything works out is kind of unrealistic to me.

Jazz is our protagonist this time! I was kind of surprised I expected this to be much more of a survival story again in the vein of his previous book, but this is very much a heist in a city on the moon. It’s an interesting city and it’s an OK story.

I will come back to finish my thoughts on the whole series, but while it’s on my mind, I’m going to skip ahead.

Holden and his crew are a delight as always. Here is where we start to get the poetic descriptions of the tech. Doors and corners might be my favorite description for danger now. The slow zone, the troubles of making gravity, it’s very cool that Physics is a character.

I think this is where the series starts to pick characters that we don’t like and we don’t have to. Clarissa is a terrible person. It’s fun to travel with her. While we don’t get into exactly how the tech works, having a common piece of equipment be so easily installed incorrectly is so cute.

I’ve seen enough of the show to see the way that Bull was folded into drummer and I have to say I prefer Bull. Exploring what it’s like to be a paraplegic and his resolve to choose that for himself. The reluctant asshole who did what needed to be done and get hated for it for far too long.

Anna‘s perspective I really liked not the most interesting character, but her thoughts are interested. Religion in the space age is a very random grab bag of ideas. This one felt far more grounded than for example the militarization in Doctor Who. And of course the Mormon ship counts too.
