Research professor at NORCE LFI, studying fish behavior and migration, primarily salmonids, using telemetry. It’s a journey that’s taking me farther and farther north.

We are now starting the second part of the #NFR_HITLICE project on Senja, Northern Norway, where we infect migrating salmon smolts with salmon lice and tag them with acoustic transmitters with predation sensors to investigate the vulnerability to predation 🐟

New paper alert! 📢 Led by OTN's Robert Lennox, this paper explores how marine infrastructure (bridges, causeways, turbines, etc.) can impact fish movement. As coastal development grows, assessing & mitigating potential impacts is key. Learn more: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

We've installed a PIT antenna in Nidelva to track returning Atlantic salmon smolts tagged last year through our #NFR_HITLice project. Smolts were infested with sea lice before release. Low discharge makes drilling the antenna to the riverbed easier, still a river with 3–4°C makes it quite tough!

Last week’s study hall somehow resulted in us swimming around with acoustic tags in our socks in the fjord today!

New paper out from our #NFR_PACE project! We combined acoustic telemetry with gill biopsies to investigate the activity of anadromous brown trout during their spawning migration in three rivers in Norway. You can find the paper here: doi.org/10.1111/jfd....

We spent the last field days in December retrieving receivers for our eel project in Storelva in southern Norway. All found, none lost! Looking forward to starting 2025 digging into the data✨
