The usual fans of pop-science rarely engage with explorations of contingency, cooperation, relationality, and system-level emergence.

Regarding fictional characters, Dan Castellaneta's parody of a generic NPR radio host should be at the top.

It's crazy how the favorite songs of a 76 year old person who's trained in classical music and who's had a unique life --traveling around the world, meeting a crazy list of VIPs-- are pretty much taken from the Billboard top 40.

I was watching a video blaming the financial failure of Mortal Kombat 1 on two characters being reimagined as non-white women.

As always, the stated complain isn't that, but the fact that "they changed the character too much." But somehow this seems to come up only when it's non-white women.

A snapshot from 2013, a time when the transatlantic order seemed destined to last another century. Before Crimea, before UKIP and the National Front’s victories in the European elections, before Brexit, Boris Johnson, Trump, the invasion of Ukraine, and the rise of algorithmic manipulation.
