4. Trust that being laid off will lead to bigger and better opportunities. This has been the case each time for me. Sometimes the universe intervenes and gives us the push we need to expand, even if the timing isn’t what we expect.

3. Go outside, watch a movie, read a book, knit a sweater, bake some cookies, etc. Remind yourself that a job does not define you.

2. Don’t force yourself (or expect yourself) to apply for jobs every week day from 9-5. It’s unrealistic. A couple of hours a day is PLENTY.

1. If possible, give yourself a break. Getting laid off is traumatic! Coupled with the election a week ago and… yeah, we’re going through it. A week or two to rest and regroup is likely not going to hinder your job search.
