Sarah, I’m with JVL on the Nobel Peace Prize swap. Machado made a fool of herself. She took the role of the subservient woman. Trump doesn’t take her seriously; he’ll never help her coalition. Ultimately, he always aligns with the tyrants, whether they reside on the left or on the right.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough—that is, unless he happens to drop dead before 2028. I’d rather his shocking incompetence and stupidity take him down. The American electorate, as a whole, has to see for themselves what happens when an evil autocratic president is placed above the law! So stupid!!

I don’t think he really wants to run again. He’s already got what he wanted. He’s already extorted and scammed billions, and he can continue to do so after his second term—with his cryptocurrency; he got immunity and he’s getting his retribution. And he’s too old and tired and generally not well.

What you’re missing is that in 2028, Trump will no longer be on the ballot (🙏). That’s when the different visions of the America First and MAGA movements will collide. There will be GOP candidates who will emphasize one perspective over the other. That’s when the disagreements will have an impact!

No, you do not need to give Ben Shapiro any credit for ANYTHING. And I agree; the worst of the worst are the ones who know exactly what they are doing and do it anyways. They know how destructive Trump can be—yet, they normalize him for selfish reasons. That’s evil!

Re: the Texas Senate race—you guys are underestimating Talarico’s appeal. I’m a progressive Jew who loves both Crockett and Talarico. But I see Talarico as the possible future of the Democratic Party because he is a true Christian who can communicate what a genuine Christian believes is moral.

I’m a progressive Jew who supports Mamdani. I don’t find anything he has said about Israel to be antisemitic, let alone disqualifying. I love you guys at the Bulwark, but your views on Israel need to be updated. Netanyahu poses as much of a threat to Jewish safety as Trump does to our democracy. 2/2
November 1, 2025 at 8:01 PM
You said that Mamdani’s response to the phrase “from the river to the sea, may Palestinians be free” disqualifying. Do you find the Netanyahu’s governments actual efforts to take all the land from the river to the sea disqualifying when it comes to receiving billions of our taxpayer dollars? 1/2

Polling certainly includes responses based on the GOP disinformation voters have been exposed to. Fascism scholars always emphasize the critical role disinformation plays in destroying democracies! So, why does the recent 2024 election autopsy ignore the role played by GOP lies in Dems’ loss? 2/2
November 1, 2025 at 4:14 PM
As someone who wrote an excellent book on disinformation just a few years ago, why aren’t you and other talking about the fact that part of the Democrats’ problem in 2024 was the lies and conspiracy theories being spewed by the right about who the Dems are and what they are fighting for. 1/2
November 1, 2025 at 4:02 PM
As you noted—it doesn’t matter what the Dems are actually prioritizing; all that matters is what the voters think they’re prioritizing. Trump’s very good at spewing lies about the Dems—lies that stick. Dems have to figure out how to penetrate the lies. Otherwise, they won’t win in this environment.

True!!

Netanyahu’s moral depravity is the primary reason for today’s surge in antisemitism. He’s made Israel a pariah state and that affects how Jews are treated across the globe. Yet, you ignored that critical issue. The only way to lesson antisemitism is to stop the genocide and end the occupation now!
September 30, 2025 at 12:37 PM
I read your recent article in the Atlantic and although I appreciate you portraying Jewish culture in a positive light, I was surprised that you did not mention anything about the main issue on the minds of most Jews today—how to cope with the shame of a genocide being committed in our name.

Helping normalize the lack of consequences for racist rhetoric is NOT the way to address this crisis. All the scholars on autocracy believe that what YOU are doing is helping the right solidify their quest to destroy our democracy and make it impossible to ever return to expectations of decency.
September 29, 2025 at 8:57 AM
How do you square your understanding of the blue scare with your normalization of the lies & hate on the right—lies & hate that have allowed the right to unfairly demonize the left? Your worldview is internally inconsistent because you’re disregarding what the scholars of autocracy have been saying!
September 29, 2025 at 8:16 AM
You fail to consider that the radical right’s lies about who we are on the left made it impossible for Dems to penetrate a deeply polluted information ecosystem. And the scholars on autocracy clearly state that democracies die when people normalize the tyrants! It’s time you stop normalizing evil!!

Ezra—these are the people you’ve abandoned in your effort to build bridges with white nationalists. By not demonstrating contrition for your misstep, you’ve traded in your audience of progressives for centrists who engage in whataboutisms! Are you are fine with that? www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/m...
