Krishna completed her secondment at the University of Messina, a perfect blend of sun, sea, and simulation. She explored phase-field simulations of ferroelectric dielectric slabs, studying domain formation and how magnetic bubbles can enable novel low energy computing.

Yuean Zhou completed secondments at the Universities of Messina and Bari, performing micromagnetic simulations on skyrmion diffusion in confined geometries. With Prof. Finocchio and Prof. Rodrigues, she studied energy landscapes and stochastic dynamics, advancing spintronic device research.

Anusree and Elisa completed a four-week secondment together at LIST on April 2025 hosted by Jorge Iñiguez. They delved deep into Ginzburg–Landau theory of ferroelectrics, participated in the group activities and gave presentations, fostering knowledge exchange and engaging in scientific discussions.

The 3rd #TOPOCOM Workshop was held at the University of Crete focusing on topics such as materials synthesis, spin textures, functional properties, and computational models. The scientific sessions were complemented by workshops on research communication, and amazing Cretan cuisine + warm beach.

Duc Tran visited NTNU in November 2024, where he utilized his expertise in Scanning Probe Microscopy to locally manipulate nm-sized magnetic skyrmions. The exchange was a great success as he not only achieved valuable results, but also fully experienced the Norwegian winter culture with new friends❄️

In November 2024, Maurice Colling had the opportunity to conduct his first secondment at Singulus Technologies AG. He gained valuable hands-on experience in epitaxial thin film growth using magnetron sputtering and explored post-growth characterization with XRD.

Ali completed his first secondment last October at LIST with Professor Jorge Íñiguez and our fellow TOPOCOM peer, Krishna. He has deepened his understanding on ferroelectrics through phase-field approach and he enjoyed the whiteboard sessions with the theorists!

Welcome Elisa from #IBM to join us as #TOPOCOM DC! She has experience in neuromorphic computing. Her research focuses on fabrication of two- and three-terminal devices based on ferroelectric thin films with topological textures. She enjoys bouldering, hiking and volleyball.
