MSM 79-75 winners! Howard turned it into a street fight, but the Mount was able to shoot an insane 29/30 on their free throws to power a win. Mount St. Mary's goes to 5-2, their best start since 1986-1987 back in the D-2 days of the program.

Howard has answered every chance by the Mount to jump ahead in the game. MSM leads 65-64, but you have to like Howard's position with 6:40 left.

Outside of Pacheco, the Mount is 1/10 from 3. That's not good enough, especially with Howard containing the inside scoring. All even 54-54 with 11:10 to play.

Mount getting back to their strengths by working it inside in the 2nd half. Ard Jr. has 6 points in the 2nd half already. Mount up 42-40 with 16:23 to play.

Mount had 8 turnovers in the first half. Howard had 10. Important key to this one was who would play cleaner. So far, nobody is.

Mount leads 36-34 at the half. Pacheco has accounted for half of MSM's points. Ard, Cordilia, and Adebayo has combined for only 6 points. This game has become a battle of the three pointers, and you gotta figure that favors Howard in the second half. Hobbs is struggling big time.

Losing Ard Jr. would rob the Mount of their most consistent inside presence. It would be very difficult to replace him.

Carmelo Pacheco is 6/7 from 3 and has 18 of the Mount's 33 points. Talk about carrying the team. 33-26 Mount with 3:40 to go in the 1st half.

Handing out grades for Mount Basketball for the first month of the season. Unexpectedly strong start this year, but still lots to improve!

Thinking about how to grade Mount basketball through the first 6 games is tough. On one hand, they've exceeded expectations, on the other, they have clear potential to be great. It's tough to think about. Guess I'll find out how I really feel when the camera is on. Lol! 😂😂
