Why keep it geographical? Wouldnt it be better to have teams in the north and the south in each conference for scheduling purposes? Then when its cold in the northeast those teams could play conference games in the south and vice-versa in the heat.

It helps the owners make money by aligning the MLS "buying and selling players" windows with those of the European leagues. It was never supposed to help the fans who attend games.

At one point I thought I’d fly my 80 year old Dad to Seattle to go to a game with him, a dream come true. Now I’m wondering if I should even bother taking my teenage kid to the fan zone.
