These look great. The bases are very nice too.

Oh wow! I totally missed this. That looks awesome. Very close to what we had initially.

It is hollow, but still quite thick. I don’t 3D print myself, so I don’t know if there was a reason for it to be that thick.

It’s 3D printed resin by, back then Privateer Press. Steamforged Games has bought the game since then, but because of engineering issues hasn’t put it back in their store. The model has a tendency to droop with the weight of the balloon. Hence the creative solution to take the balloon off.

I used some LEGO pieces to make the balloon removable and prevent any undue stress on the carriage while the model isn’t being played with.

After the switch to Kai and more refinement, I landed on this model. From here, I added the cape and then it was time for me to go on paternity leave. This is where Dimi took over. He executed the change in vision from our leaders on the colors and the expression of the water.

Then it was down to trying to make a mech that was smaller than the Cole Dragon Titan Mech but with as much of the articulation as possible. I built new hips, thigh rotation and ankles. This design eventually evolved into the piston based ankle you see today.

I built a couple of monsters similar to the sketch on the right of the first post that were breaking through the ground with a shattered rock effect, but the bosses preferred this partially submerged design. This is an earlier version with more vibrant colors and stylized water.

Part of the first explorations were a bunch of different models. Here are 2 of them. The one on the left was done by our Design Manager Heiko and the one on the right by Lee and myself. In these concepts, it was a mech with a monster companion instead of an enemy.

Love the yellow shoulder pads. These look killer Simon!

There’s nothing explicitly left from this model in the final set other than the idea. Of course, it started as a Kai jet, then switched to Zane to then end as a Lloyd set. Lee’s design is much sleeker and streamlined than this.

Thank you! I don’t actually. We nailed the proportions and aesthetic on the first pass, so a lot of the later work was mostly color exploration, building/stability stuff.

The Arin car was designed asking the same kind of question. In the end, both models were used very differently in the show, but the idea was to have them up on the cliffs and trees of the Wyldness.

It then went through a couple of different versions by different people, before Lee nailed the final design.
