Detours. Long way around. Stops on the way. Foolishness. We now know they were all necessary. The answer was always there. The answer was the world itself. The answers were in the questions. The story had already begun. With a fixed conclusion.

Wasn't really feeling this until Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's character shows up. He absolutely steals the show. Then the movie just... ends. Yeah, it's pretty tragic.

What the hell do you want me to say? This deserves its reputation and then some. Nonsensical plotting, glacial pacing, despicable and incompetent characters, hideous animation, patient zero for zeekwank. This has it all.

And in the end, we shall achieve in time
The thing they called divine
When all the stars will smile for me
When all is well and well is all for all
And forever after
Well maybe in the meantime, wait and see

Basically a theatrical version of OVA episodes 7 and 8 with some new scenes, the most substantive addition is the titular Alice Miller, who represents the bloodthirsty hatred of the Federation and makes this essential viewing.

When we, as adults, take a look around at the world we built, will we feel pride? Or shame? Every mistake we make, every injustice, every war, the ones who hurt from it the most are our children. How can we live with that knowledge?
