Leonora
@toomuchsinging.bsky.social
Expert procrastinator with a tendency to think about music rather than work. Often found humming random bits of Bach or Purcell while walking down the street.
@patrickallies.bsky.social Apologies if I turn up tomorrow with a slightly hairy copy of the Manchicourt!

So relieved to have bought a non-tickling teapot.

There has been a lot to despair of in the world recently, but a Christmas tree at the start of November in my local supermarket has clinched it for me. Complete abomination.

Local fox posing for his autumnal portrait.

Off to the march (ok, so it looks like an owl. But I had all of 5 minutes to make this, and I don’t suppose owls like him either).

A Jersey Tiger Moth has taken up residence in my dining room! Pretty even with its wings folded, but spectacular when it opens them.

I’ve still got a few books at home (technically speaking I think they’re my sister’s) with the old Puffin Club bookplates in.

As I’m normally capable of killings plants just by looking at them, and my photography skills don’t extend beyond pointing a camera at something and hoping for the best, I’m quite impressed that I grew this beauty and managed to get a reasonable pic of it.

Meanwhile Kitty, displaying less highbrow tastes, is currently lording it over a fresh batch of biscuits.

Less buns, and more a sort of warm, irate splodge.

I’ve got a whole load of homemade rum and ginger marmalade sitting here waiting for the next Christian Aid sale/Lambeth Fete. You’d be very welcome to have a jar now if you’d like one (just bung a bit to Christian Aid in return).

Great bit of nominative determinism here.

As an author as well as a translator, I'm very much feeling the irony here...

This is the @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social poem I grew up with. For I’ve kept this book\Where I still live to look\As it’s falling apart\But close to my heart\For years and years and years.

It may not feel quite like spring yet, but one very enthusiastic hyacinth is beginning to flower in my back yard.

My cat (despite being elderly and spayed) has a suitor/stalker, and he’s hilarious. I’m impressed both by my cat’s pulling power at her age and by her categorical rejection of his advances.

Likewise, I know that Kitty must have been in the bowl of dough I’ve got proving.

Never mind lynxes on the loose in Scotland - I’ve spotted a panther on the prowl in my house!

Today I have been making the bear necessities.
(I’m not a huge marmalade fan personally - these are all for charity sales.)

One of my relatives (a former tutor at the Poetry School, now in his 90s) wrote this as his Christmas message.

Catching up with the Early Music Show on Radio 3 (featuring @ifagiolini.bsky.social, among others), while decorating cake no. 2. This feels like the calm before the Christmas storm…

The contents of my Christmas veg box from Riverford this morning look strangely black and furry.

Christmas cake no. 1 (possibly more accurately described as shed loads of brandy with a bit of cake somewhere in the mix) all decorated and ready to give as a gift.
