Doing my best to take care of others and myself during a time when all of us desperately need it. Dog-mom. Married to a Navy Vet. Actively avoiding emotional disregulation. I strongly believe people should buy way less stuff.
I didn't want to spend 100+ dollars for a handmade leather quiver, but I don't like sporting-goods aesthetics. Decided I'd crochet it, instead

Haven't heard many people talk about it, but Sesame Street isn't being made anymore? That feels ominous.

I feel like humans never actually left the cave - we wear the trappings of modernity to hide how primitive our brains actually are when it comes to prioritizing and meeting our needs

If you look up the folklore about what to do and what not to do when dealing with the fae, you'll find those rules are helpful for dealing with the police. Don't eat/drink anything they offer, don't invite them into your house, don't be rude but don't talk to them...

Saw something in the sky a little while ago that looked like a meteor falling to earth - for a moment, I thought "yeah, this makes sense"

On a far-enough timeline, our ancestors were at least one of three kinds of people - murderers (who survived to procreate), thieves (who had resources to raise children), or storytellers (who entertained the other two)

It both blows my mind and gives me peace knowing that on any given day, someone is still blowing glass, wrighting a ship, tying a net, drying a clay tile in the sun, leaving marks of humanity in the same ways we've done for hundreds to thousands of years

Being new to archery, I have so many questions. Like - is there a naming tradition, like do I name my bow? Do I name it something based on the damage it's done - like "My left-shouldersbane"? Or something more contemporary like "Bow Tha Product?"

I'm using ChatGPT to help me create a primitive conlang for my husband and I to speak so we can get out of social situations when we're put on the spot together about "do y'all want to go do...?" So far, all animals are referred to as "dog." Bird = sky dog. Snake = no-legs-ground dog. All is dog.

My big gift this year was a 26# draw recurve bow, 6 arrows, and a target. Keep in mind that I'm over 50, out of shape, and have low vision. Anyway, less than 12 hours after getting my bow, I managed to do this:

Rest in Peace, President Carter. Thank you for being an example of human kindness, for not bending the knee of morality in exchange for power, and for demonstrating faith unmired by fear.

The elites don't hate the working class because we are less than human - they hate us in order to maintain their delusion that they are more than human. The evidence that they are not piles up in an age where commoners can leave legacies of our own. They hate that we can be remembered.

Trying to not lose all my holiday spirit, but the updated forecast has Christmas week in the 70s. Amd, when I bring up the fact that it's a problem, people act like I'm crazy for thinking it's a problem

Considering the precarious nature of the human condition, I reserve the right to have grocery store cake for dinner and drink milk directly from the carton.

Can't shake the feeling that at least one member on the incoming administration would be highly susceptible to a Nigerian prince email scam

I want to write a series of books set in a well-built world, about a network of redneck housewives that are actually skilled poisoners and assassins, like a modern-day low-budget aqua tofana. I'd call it "The Sisters of St. Jolene."

Good morning and happy Monday. Remember that "cyber Monday" is totally made up and you don't have to participate

Please remember that people with picture-perfect holiday settings and celebrations with no mess and nothing out of place have staff that do the dirtiest of the work. Don't lose your joy by holding yourself to unachievable standards

You know how every family has that one aging aunt who's completely out of touch with what kids actually want for the holidays and just gives everyone socks or hats or whatever? That's me now. Enjoy your hat.

Let us enjoy this season in whatever way we can, whatever big or small joys we're able to latch on to and hold to heart - we may not have another one, and we're well aware. We know The Bad Stuff is coming- do not rob us of The Good Stuff while we have it.

Sweet potato cheesecake, and that's a wrap on food for the day for me.
