A significant part of my vacation in a week I going to be devoted to seeing as many movies as I can while I'm in a city with more than one (1) movie theatre

I'm only occasionally stoned and I can still fuck with some Phish. I realize I'm in a minority there...

My city being mentioned on Radio Dead Air: a better honorific than my city being a primary filming location for Reindeer Games and Dreamcatcher?

I remember it being a minor story when Nakedself was released that online retailers had to fix their search function so that "The The" was actually searchable.

The version I got was 'oh, you're only working full-time hours because there's an open part-time position in your department. That cancels out the full-time eligibility, sorry.' And that was *with* a union no less.

My favorite version of this was "If you work full time hours for 10 weeks, you will be offered the next available full time position" (You will work one shift in the tenth week)

I made it through my bout with Mr 19 by listening to Perfume Genius' Ugly Season while barely moving. Definitely A Choice on my part but it made my sickness that much more interesting...

"I hope you're with someone who makes you feel safe in your sleep" is such a subtle gut punch of a lyric and that's the third line...

There's a big difference between Ghost getting a couple of minor viral hits and ST having their entire album chart on the Hot 100. That's a distinct level of mainstream penetration (however brief it will likely be) that hasn't really happened for anything metal-adjacent this decade.

A lot of it comes down to metal purists being salty that a band with as many non-metal influences as Sleep Token is effectively giving "their" scene its mainstream breakthrough. Plenty of people have other issues, but the loudest ones I've seen are very much genre police...

I truly believe that BSG would be better remembered if there was no season 4.5. Let it end with the discovery of an abandoned earth, let the audience live in that bummer. It makes as much sense as where they wound up...

I'm guessing that a lot of people reduced him down to the five songs that classic rock radio has spent thirty years running into the ground and never bothered to look any deeper. Less 'Bob Seeger is bad' than 'If I have to hear "Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" one more god damn time...'

Then about a decade later one of my uncle's closest friends who was trans died. Her family refused to acknowledge her identity to the point of publishing her obituary under her deadname. That was maybe the first time I was actively angry about the shit trans people have to suffer through.

One of my sister's friends transitioned after high school (this would have been mid 2000s.) Seeing her absolutely flourish after years of seemingly unbreakable depression was a pretty obvious sign that this shouldn't be demonized on any level.

As much as there's truth to that assessment, I do see a tendency for people to throw the baby out with the bathwater here and tar every post-AF "indie" band with the same blanket criticism rather than acknowledging that some of those bands were actually really fucking good.
