Because if I saw something in canon “teasing” my OTP, my first thought would also be “Oh, so the writers are mocking us again.” It’s not very fun when people approach your ship with outright aggression & derision.

I insist that this would have been better as an animated film where the bulk of the movie is the first act and then quickly speeds through the second act.
