No it’s unfortunately more basic than that. Liberal ideology can’t let poor people own shares. Moreover, industry/ unions collective superfunds can’t control trillions in capital. That’s meant for liberal capitalists only. #auspol

To be honest Pete, the west wing brain is the reason the the US is in the state it’s in. Every single crisis was another chance to cave into republicans. We can’t do that the republicans will never go for it… bla bla bla.

You’ve got a lot of sins @amyremeikis.bsky.social. Or are you hoping to get into credit at some stage?

But more importantly the steel tariffs are imposed on everyone. Unless the US can magic up a steel industry overnight that can fill the gap - (hint it can’t and no business is gonna invest in it at the whipsaw pace trump is changing his mind) then the only losers really are US consumers.

Agree 100% with immoral opposition grandstanding.

However using ‘false flag’ although technically correct, under current corrupted usage I wouldn’t adopt the term.

The right of Australian politics have a lot to answer for by opening Pandora’s box courting far right votes for 30+ years.

It was also to be used as a bargaining chip for reduced sentences for assisting police. It’s not uncommon for someone with links high up to offer police a weapons dump or other info with their assistance considered at sentencing.

Context: what difference does 2-3 weeks make in the scheme of an electoral term vs 2-3 weeks in the scheme of cleaning up after a cyclone?

And these levels of imports have been around for years so it’s unlikely US steel / alum can ramp up overnight let alone provide a cheaper alternative. So big risk is just US inflation and Fed hiking interest rates by the end of the year.

Tariffs are universal, so it’s not like other countries can offer cheaper alternatives and fill the void.
February 12, 2025 at 7:46 AM
Steel/aluminium tariffs won’t shift anything for a couple years if even then.

@chrisbowenmp.bsky.social playing the you can’t risk the other guy didn’t work well for the US Dems. Please Chris, make sure there’s a ‘and this is what Labor is doing/ will do’

Running a ‘we’re not the other guy strategy’ isn’t going to work in this climate.

No one confirmed him either. Thats not the US system. No doubt many laws regarding data retention and security have been breached. Be interesting to see if there is anything resembling accountability ever restored.

Mate you’re having a laugh.
Literally seen the Labor party wrestle back inflation while also providing meaningful cost of living relief. LNP are truly awful during economic crisis. Every time times get tough Labor mop it up. But that’ll never be good enough for you.

2 eps in, so far so good.
And Dutton has alway been a lightweight.

Probably also worth thinking about where a lot of Elon’s cars are made…
February 4, 2025 at 11:46 AM
Poor journalism? It happens. Your LNP mates have been banging on about it for years at the ABC.

Haven’t for years. Problem is if you’re politically engaged in Australia you can’t avoid it. Every media outlets breathlessly regurgitate interviews and amplify the aforementioned garbage.
