The tutorials in the docs are good but Brackys, Heart beast and Clearcode have tutorials I really enjoyed. They go over use of the editor more than the docs do.

This reminds me of the isolated tribe off the Indian Ocean called The Sentinelese. They've attacked most outsiders who have attempted contact. There was also an incident where a ship ran aground and the tribe stripped the ship for resources. This feels very similar to that but now we are the tribe.

Have you seen the gaming from scratch video? They talk about some new implementation using c++ as a gd extension for scripting.
