@tonywattswriter.bsky.social
Communicator and campaigner -particularly on later life, ageing and intergenerational issues. I lead the Age Action Alliance collaborative network and the comms of EngAgeNet.
Can you help?

I'm conducting anonymous interviews with older people (65+), living on their own, who are either doing things to remain socially connected, or finding barriers to doing so.

If you, or someone you know, would be happy to have a 15 -minute chat, please let me know!

Really important story for Bristol: 36% of those having strokes in the city are of working age: a big risk to organisational resilience. Yet 90% of strokes are preventable. The stroke charity I work with can help companies make this part of their ESG. www.bristolafterstroke.org.uk/articles/rai...

Following a stroke, many people can feel isolated and cut off from their previous life. This is a charity I'm proud to work for that plays a huge role in the lives of stroke-affected people in Bristol... rebuilding their lives, restoring their social confidence and keeping them connected.
Come along to our Bristol Cafe next week.

Wednesday 11th December

Oatley Hall, St Monica Trust, Cote Lane, BS9 3UN

We have Chris joining us for a Xmas singalong, come along wearing your Christmas Jumper and enjoy a cuppa and a singalong.

Hospices are shutting beds through a lack of funding: do we take our charities for granted? That's the lead in today's Later Life AGEnda round up of news and blogs. Plus: Age UK warn of a lonely Christmas for millioins of older people; and does retirement make us kinder?

A brilliant and comprehensive piece of work which has squared the circle on how we can get older people’s housing to fulfil its potential- not only to house our ageing population but also to deliver wellbeing and greater social cohesion.
I am happy to inform you that the Older People’s Housing Taskforce Report is now published (gov.uk/government/p...
), with a written ministerial statement (questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-stat...
). With thanks to all those involved.
