This is the last one of these; revisiting a scene I painted 5 years ago today, ‘1st June 2020 - Bus stop by Thornes Park football pitches’. I’ve always liked this because of the red of the bus stop. They’ve replaced the bent bus stop sign and there are people running in the park, but that’s about it

I was at Kirkgate station last week, waiting for a train to Pontefract. Walking along the platform I was having a very strong sense of deja vu. I took a photograph as I knew that view. Then I remembered. Purely coincidentally 5 years ago to the day I painted that very same scene.

Still to paint are Castleford Panthers ARLFC, Castleford RUFC, Three Lanes End Academy, Half Acres Primary Academy and Acton Pastures Primary.

A wonderful find - two pieces of concrete, connected by iron reinforcing rods, draped over a branch. I’m guessing the tree has grown up under it and carried it off the ground.

Weather is looking good today so it’s a perfect opportunity for an extended walk at @yspsculpture to find this veteran sweet chestnut in the Country Park. Get a park map from the YSP Centre, find the grid reference at the Keepers Of Time exhibition and see if you can find it!
