Ultimately, the positions have been reversed: now, instead of Ena accepting Mizuki, Mizuki will have to accept Ena.

It’ll be rough, and things will remain unanswered, but I think in the end, Mizuki will return to the real world and begin making music with N25 again.

End of 🧵!

People like An are exceptions because of their inherent personalities. Their exceptionality is on the surface. Meanwhile, because of Mizuki’s classmates, Ena has been posited on the surface level as being part of the norm, and will have to work hard to prove her exceptionality.

So, in Ena5, I think Ena is going to have to prove to Mizuki that she is in fact one of the rare exceptions in Mizuki’s life.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
She’s scared of things changing, but more importantly she’s scared of being seen differently, and wrongly assumes that they will see her differently in a meaningful way. Ena knows that such a thing isn’t true, but she just isn’t able to get the words out.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
She assumes that Ena being kind would just be a front to the feelings everyone normally has about her, and the same would go for Kanade and Mafuyu when they heard, that their reaction would be the same as other people’s in the past.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
She processed her feelings quickly enough to catch up, but couldn’t process what to say, and by then it was already too late—Mizuki’s heart had already hardened too much for Ena’s acceptance to reach her.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
Now, it’s important to realize that Ena DOES accept her, she was always going to and the rough delivery of Mizuki’s secret didn’t change that. However, she simply had no time to process it.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
Yes, she did correctly assume she was outed, but I think her reaction was far more because she perceived Ena to be on their side, which in a cruel way, locationally speaking, she was.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
So then: this isn’t her reaction to being called a boy in front of Ena. This is the face of someone who came half-expecting to lose a person incredibly dear to her, only to find—in her eyes—that person already lost.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
And yet, when she came onto the rooftop, she saw Ena standing with the very people who make up the painful, draining norm of her life. Her already fragile mental state completely shattered.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
I think she reached the point of making a decision to come out to Ena because she came to think, or at least hope, that Ena would be one of those exceptions.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
Now, fundamentally, the norm in Mizuki’s life is rejection, bulling, and overall negative treatment by everyone who knows the truth about her, with people who do accept her such as An being rare exceptions.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
Mizuki’s classmates would’ve been facing the door and would’ve reacted if she arrived at any point earlier.

In fact, I’d suppose that they’d address her instead of Ena, saying something like “is your friend here a guy too?”
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
When actually seeing the conversation unfold, the door opens only after Classmate A made his comments, right when Ena is just figuring things out.
November 28, 2024 at 9:47 AM
But, she was separated from Ena, who went up alone.

Now, there’s something important to note that a lot of people miss:

Mizuki did NOT hear herself getting outed.
