When Clinton passed don’t ask don’t tell, and the defense of marriage act, when liberal nonprofits prioritized marriage equality instead of the still on going HIV epidemic, the rampant growth of queer teen suicide, or the even higher rate of queer teen homelessness, especially among trans teens.

When they went on to gut Welfare and eliminate hope of economic prosperity for millions of families as they suddenly no longer qualify and those that still did were stuck in a perpetual cycle of poverty because education funding being slashed.

The Democratic Party, and liberal ideology has proven time and time again, that is not their priority and simply not in their interests. When the Clinton administration continued Nixon, and Reagan era “tough on crime” policies going further to create to label children as “super predators”.

So, a party completely opposed to capitalism and instead focused on procurement and provision of material needs to eliminate scarcity, educate the electorate and empower the oppressed is necessary to combated the harms of capitalism.

This is because the interest of the oppressed almost always conflicts with the interest of capital. Capitalism is dependent of poverty, on racism, and misogyny, and by extension of misogyny it is dependent on the fear, and misinformation of queer and trans people.

I’ve recently heard Dr. August Nimtz of the University of Minnesota on @Upstream speak about the value of electoral politics in anti-oppression revolution. What was made clear to me was the fact that the Democratic Party and liberalism broad will never serve the interests of the oppressed.
