Second #BTO Heathland bird survey visit this evening. Only 2 Nightjar (4 on 1st visit) but found 2 glowworm on my walk back.

Warm and Sunny at Staines Res this morning. 8 Black necked Grebe ( up from 1 last week), 2 Oystercatcher, 2 juv little ringed plover and around 20 common terns sitting on the raft. #ukbirding

Staines Moor very pleasant this morning. Late Green Sand on the Butt's, cuckoo, 3 lssr whitethroat and most of the common warblers on territory. #ukbirding

Thankfully some 70 or 80 Arctic Tern hung on at Staines Res for me this evening. One of those spring mornings when work gets in the way! Also black Tern, ringed plover, 3 little gull, 3 Oystercatcher and the 2 G N Diver. ##ukbirding

Staines Res this am: 2 G N Diver, the sp bird looking splendid, B N Grebe, 5 whimbrel through, 5 dunlin, 2 Oystercatcher, common sand and my first swift and House Martin of the year. #ukbirding

Beautiful morning at Staines Res: 29+ Little, 1 Med and 1000+ B H Gull. 2 Slav and 5 B N Grebe. 2 G N Diver on N basin a possible 3rd bird on S basin, plumage looked different, but never saw 3 at the same time. 2 brief Yellow wagtail. #ukbirding

Staines Res this am: very mild, no wind made a nice change. Duck and Grebe numbers down, I only saw 1 slav and 4 B Necked. The 2 GN Divers were still present. Bird of the day was the blue headed wagtail on the causeway, with a white wagtail further along. 1000+ B H Gull present. #ukbirding

At last signs of spring at Staines Res today: 2 little ringed plover, swallow, Scandinavian and British Rock Pipit, 2 water pipit plus 8 Black necked and 2 Slav Grebe plus the 2 G N Diver. #ukbirding

Stroll around lake near work at lunchtime. Singing Firecrest attracted a goldcrest, which it carried on displaying to, while a second goldcrest looked on. After a few minutes the firecrest went off but continued singing. Something I've not seen before. ##ukbirding

Now 2 Slav Grebe on Staines Res S basin. One in a much more advanced summer plumage. 2 G N Diver, 12 B N Grebe, 5 Shelduck and around 50 Shoveler which is an increase on previous weeks. #ukbirding

Very still and sunny at Staines Res this morning. Still Slav and 11+ B N Grebe. 2 G N Diver, 6 Shelduck and more Shoveler than I have seen this year. The first St. Marks Fly types buzzing around, I expect a couple of million along the causeway by the end of the month. #ukbirding

Staines Res in a milder SW wind today. Slav still present on S basin, 2 G N Diver on n basin. 9 B N Grebe, beginning to hang out in pairs now, a bit more scattered around the res. B H Gulls have already taken a shine to the Tern raft. ##ukbirding

Still a cool easterly component to the wind at Staines Reservoir today. A pair of red breasted merganser on the south basin was nice. Still 2 G N Diver, Slav and 10 B N Grebe present. #ukbirding

Staines Res this am: cold NE wind, very grey and murky. Pretty much the same as the last few weeks , Slav, 10 B N Grebe, 2 G N Diver, common sand. At least the wind kept most things close to the causeway. ##ukbirding

Overcast and relatively calm at Staines Res this morning, 2 G N Diver on N basin, Slav Grebe on S basin, 10 B N Grebe, 2 Shelduck, 100+ wigeon, still good numbers of good and Tufted Duck. #ukbirding.

My first visit of the year to Staines Res yielded 8 Black necked Grebe, Water Pipit, common Sandpiper actually on the causeway, 20 Goldeneye and around 200 of both coot and Tufted Duck. #ukbirding
