Democratic Socialism is a type of socialism. Bernie Sanders is a Social Democrat. Mamdani is a socialist.

Also, what is your point with the statistic? I’m just trying to point out that Mamdani is a socialist because he is part of the DSA. If Mamdani has stated that he doesn’t want to nationalize most modes of production, I will take it back.

I had the same confusion as well at one point. I saw in your bio that you call yourself a democratic socialist. If you’re going off from those models, social democrat would be a more accurate label to put in your bio.

I also blame it on Bernie Sanders a little bit because it seems like he uses both terms Social Democrat and Democratic Socialist interchangeably, which confused me a long time ago.
But in an academic sense, Bernie Sanders’s platform is Social Democracy, not Democratic Socialism

Bernie Sanders isn’t an actual Democratic Socialist, sorry to break it to you. He’s a social democrat, same with most European countries.

If a democratic socialist doesn’t want public ownership of most production, then they aren’t a democratic socialist. Democratic socialism is a type of socialism.
